The season finale of 2024 was nothing short of spectacular for Bruneko Yacht Charter, as we proudly participated in the 20th anniversary of the celebrated Zadarska Koka Regatta in Zadar, Croatia, with our trusty Elan E6, Contessa. This milestone edition brought together an impressive fleet of 118 yachts, honoring Zadar’s rich maritime heritage with elegance and thrilling competition—and we are thrilled to announce that Bruneko Yacht Charter Team secured a second place in the Cruising category! Competing against 14 skilled teams in our group, we’re proud to have reached the podium, a true testament to the skill, teamwork, and passion of our crew.
The prestigious Zadarska Koka regatta
The Zadarska Koka is not just any regatta; it’s one of the Adriatic’s most prominent sailing events, organized by Uskok Sailing Club. The race honors the city’s deep-rooted seafaring history, commemorating the 1398 arrival of the medieval trading vessel Chocha into Zadar's port. The regatta celebrates this iconic moment and brings together sailors and enthusiasts from near and far. Over the years, it’s grown into a true celebration of sailing culture in Croatia, perfectly embodying the beauty and thrill of maritime tradition.
The festivities were a spectacle in themselves! Leading up to race day, a three-day program featured eco-workshops, sailing exhibitions, and even a demonstration of traditional Croatian rigs like the Latin sail. The regatta atmosphere reached its peak on race day, with hundreds of sails gliding through the Zadar Channel, turning the horizon into a mesmerizing sea of white.
Each year, the event attracts more participants and spectators, shining a spotlight on Zadar’s maritime heritage. For many, the Zadarska Koka is not merely a competition but a time-honored tradition that fosters a sense of community.
